The Faculty of Engineering has formulated and maintained cooperative links with universities and International institutions worldwide, i.e., France, Switzerland, Japan, Vietnam, Cambodia, Philippine, Malaysia, Singapore, Canada, Germany, Poland, Belgium, Finland and Thailand. With such a cooperation program, FE has established link at various levels and activities.
Up to present days, exchange programs at FE/NUOL consist of:

Joint research programs, which receive high priority among other programs in considering the collaborations

Academic exchange programs to include co-hosting conferences, workshops

Staff exchanges programs to include both teaching and research staff who will take assignments in laboratories or organizations of mutual interests

Since 1997, the JICA has supported to FE in Electronic-Telecommunication Department and IT & Computer Engineering Department.

From 1997, a filial of the Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF) has established and functioned within the Department of Civil Engineering, and 2004 with Electrical Department.

Since 2001, FE has become a full member of AUN/SEED-Net that aims to upgrade an Engineering Education in the South East Asia Region, collaborative research programs, short-term study programs and Universty-Industry Collaboration program.

The Vocational Teacher Education Department receives support from the Lao-German Program of Human Resource Development for a Market Economy (GIZ) and participates in collaborative research programs within the framework of the Regional Co-operation Platform Vocational Teacher Training & Education in Asia (RCP).
